's STAR WARS Toy Collection |
Just pick a Collection, and see pictures and descriptions of some of my most "prized" STAR WARS toys.
Many of the 70's & 80's toys were actually used in the making of "Too Much STAR WARS" (the movie).
Some are "valuable", but ALL hold my fondest memories of being a 12 year old boy - sitting in the front row to see STAR WARS . . . eventually over 100 times!!!
(not always in the front row, of course.) |
Got a "fondest memory" of your favorite STAR WARS toy? Send it to me & I'll post my favorites. |
My "fondest memory" of my favorite Star Wars toy is actually all of them, I'll explain. In the summer of 1980 our house was destroyed by a tornado. My family and myself were on vaction when the tornado hit. The day we left for vacation I put all of my Star Wars toys under the couch in the living room. I pretended this was echo base. When we were notified about our home, we came straight back. All that remained of our living room was the couch and all the Star Wars toys under it. My bed- room with the rest of my toys was ripped off the foundation and blown away. The Star Wars toys weren't even wet!! True story!! I still have all of them plus a lot more. The toys were a great comfort when all the other toys and clothes were gone. May the force be with you....

Here are some cool STAR WARS toy stories: |
A fond memory for me was having my original remote controlled Artoo- Deetoo. I remember bringing him to grade school with me several time for show-and-tell, and the many hours of play I enjoyed with him.
He followed me on many adventures, and best of all, the radio frequency he operated on jammed many other remote control racing cars my friends had. He may not have been as fast as those boring little racing cars, but he was the only one operating properly when the races were on!!

I am actually a new generation fan, but I do have toys! (Yup, I'm 15.) My dad handed down to me some of his old Luke and Han action figures when I was 11. And henceforth, I ate, slept, and breathed Star Wars. (I still do!) My best toy memory was the day after tickets went on sale for The Phantom Menace. I had one of the Luke action figures in my backpack (and I can't remember why) but I had taken him out in English class when my teacher walked over to me and said "I accidentally got 5 extra tickets for opening night. Want them?" Since then, that toy has become my good luck charm!!

Well, though I've loved the Star Wars movies since I was a child I have only begun collecting the toys recently. I think my fondest memory of Star Wars toys, is buying my first one. While half poking fun at my boyfriend for collecting them, I suppressed a desire to own them myself. It started with Watto. I love that fat, winged little guy, he brings a little tear to my eye. And it just grew from there. My biggest triumph was getting a Destroyer Droid and Yoda (Episode I) on the same day, back when they were both pretty rare. That was a very good day for my toy collecting.

I have a funny, kind of embarrassing. I grew up a bit poor. And when the action figures started to become available, we couldn't afford to buy any. My brother and I were crushed. So crushed in fact, we arrived home via police car from the local department store. We were dumb enough to try to steal them. Needless to say, we learned our lessons, and began convincing family members that we couldn't live without some Star Wars stuff. We weren't able to get any figures until Christmas. I remember, Santa bright me Yoda, R2, Luke, Chewy, Han, and Darth. My brother got the Millenum Falcon, an the Ice Land action set with some storm troopers. Plus some figurines. We were the happiest people on earth. And decided to end our career in crime.

Being as it's close to Easter time, one Star Wars-related Easter of my childhood comes to mind. My favorite vehicle toy of all time was definitely my Millenium Falcon, and I played with it constantly. Consequently, it got beat up pretty fast. I woke up one Easter morning to find, instead of an Easter basket, a brand-new Millenium Falcon! My parents left the back cover off and put in some of that plastic green "grass" stuff and a bunch of candy! I took VERY good care of my new Falcon and I still have it safely stored away.

My fondest memory was the last day spent with the original star wars toys...I had almost all of them, my mother used to buy me one every tuesday and friday, I played with them the day before we were moving into the city and I played with them for hours on end. Then recently, I asked my mother where they had gone...she sold them at a yard sale for $5 stinking dollars...THE ORIGINAL TOYS!!!!! all I have left to remember them by now is a darth sidius and darth maul figure that I got when the new movie came out. But ill never forget that final day I played with them.

Probably, I may not have as many toys and memorabilia as all of the other fans, as I live in a far away galaxy (no kiddin', I live pretty far from the US!); so I can't get all the things US people get, and if I do, I have to sell my blood to get them, as they're so expensive. So, my most memorable SW toys are all the ones I've ben able to get whenever I travel back to the US, icluding my fave, my Queen Amidala in Red Velvet Robe doll, and my lightsaber.

I haven't been a Star Wars fan long, (since early '95) and it all started with a box of Fruit Loops. I remember walking down the cereal aisle and seeing a Han Solo action figure on the front of the cereal box, it sent goose-bumps all over. (I was a semi Star Wars fan, because of my role model, my older brother.) I must have ate a ton of Fruit Loops, and I sent off for 4 action figures, but only got 3. My sister claimed one, I gave one to my brother, and I kept the third. And ever since I have been a INTENSE Star Wars fan.

I have a really short letter here. I think the toys I liked the best were the TIE fighter and speeder bike. I used to love to "blow" them apart. I would go up and down the hallway chasing my die cast Falcon with this TIE fighter that was twice the size of the Falcon. Unfortunately, as time wore on, one of the pylon springs on the TIE broke and is useless. I also lost the speeder bike. Maybe because I moved so many times. I would like to somehow get both of them back in my collection. I had a lot of fun with my Star Wars toys. Thanks for letting me share this with someone!

My best memory inolves my beautiful son James, who died in a meaningless drowning accident at the age of 15 a few years ago. He in fact died about three months after the Phantom Menace came out. I went by his high school to take him out of class, as he thought, to go to the doctor--but instead it was for the movie! He was a giant star wars fan as I was, and we had a beautiful time waiting in line and then seeing the movie for the first time. And afterward we went to kmart and bought and action figgure. I bought a Qui-Gon and he bought and Obi- Wan. His Obi-Wan is my prize, and makes me full of sad happiness. I miss my son very much, but I'm glad I took him out of school that day. His Obi- wan reminds me of that.

My R2Droid sometimes gets a mind of it's own, I know it's just a "toy" but it just seems like when I tell R2 to go "on Patrol" he'll continue on his mission!! I get a kick out of watching R2 patrols my room, and all the cool commands he does!! He's defiantly the best toy ever, and I'm almost 40!!! LOL
